

Once you reach her, she apologizes, and reveals that wight-slain Cecil was her father, bringing the tale full circle. Go slightly northwest to meet Roina back at the coast. It's not necessary to read it for the quest, but it's a nice bit of story.įinally, an easy journey - teleport straight from the dungeon back to Marowen. You find a Mold-spotted Journal on the floor that tells a bit more about Roina's mother. Without the Sodden Growths to protect her, the Sodden Effigy is not sturdy, but she also sprouts new Growths quickly enough that it may take 2-3 rounds to get her down on your own. These are tethered to her and thankfully spawn one at a time clockwise.Destroy these to make the Sodden Effigy targetable. Roina's mother - aka the Sodden Effigy - begins sprouting Sodden Growths that make her Invulnerable. They have a good old fashioned mother-daughter spat. You'll end up in an end chamber with Roina and a surprise mystery guesy, trussed up in hair and branches: Roina's mother. Mithering Descent itself is a single winding cavern with occasional groups of animated Drowned and Corpses you'll need to dispatch.

Mithering Descent is a small quest dungeon that behaves just fine while you're in there, but has a bug after the quest has concluded. You'll need to walk up to the northeast corner of Northshore to meet with Roina again. Once again, Northshore's lack of public transportation works against you. In this last chapter of the quest line, you'll get to meet even more of Roina's family, but not in a good way. These mostly reflect the level at which the quest was completed at the time the screenshots were taken. Side Quests scale to your level, so don't pay attention to the quest levels in graphics. Most also reward special caches of valuable crafting materials or gear rewards, so be sure to pick up and complete as many Side Quests as you can in a particular zone. Side Quests earn +20 zone renown, as well as scaling amounts of gold and experience.
